6 month bday pictures

6 months old

Hard to believe Jack and Maddy are six months old!  They went to their six month check up this week and are both now 26.5 inches long and Jack is 17 pounds 9 ounces and Maddy is 16 pounds 9 ounces.  They are such a delight...Maddy has found her feet and is fascinated by them.  Jack is trying to roll all over the place and almost sitting by himself.  I spent last weekend making all kinds of baby food and so far they have had avocado (not such fans of that), sweet potatoes (love them!) and bananas (love them also!).  They are such good eaters.  They have started to interact with each other even more than before...if one of them has something the other wants they reach out and grab for it.  Jack has tried to grab Maddy's bow off of her head and they are fascinated with each others bibs (not interested in their own bibs, just each others).  They are still teething and drooling everywhere, but no teeth yet!  Below are some pictures form Easter and their 6 month Hawaiian themed celebration.

Life has become so exciting!

Jack and Maddy are 5 1/2 months old now and their little personalities show more and more every day.  At the recommendation of our pediatrician, we started giving them a little bit of rice cereal each day--the hope was this would help with Jack's reflux.  As the story always goes...anything Jack does, Maddy does also..so we let her join in the fun as well.  At first, Jack gobbled this down while Maddy spit it out with a disgusted look on her face.  Now, they both open their mouths wide for a bite...then of course shove their hand in as well, suck on that for a bit, then smear all of the rice cereal over their face, their eyes, their hair.  It is quite the sight--adorable!!

Jack has found his volume now, often tells us stories just like Maddy has been doing for several weeks now.  He laughs out loud and has the biggest grin I've ever seen.  His hair is growing and getting thicker, it is a blondish reddish color and he looks so sweet with his little wispy hairs.  Maddy is finally getting some hair--bright red!  She is such a happy girl, smiling all of the time and singing, talking or humming to us.  They are both so interested in their toys, especially those that make noise or have flashing lights.  They are both rolling over, sitting up with support and putting weight on their legs.

They are also teething!  There is drool constantly coming out of their mouths and all objects go into the mouth as well.  They have both been a little extra fussy because of this, but all in all they are mostly the silly, happy babies we love and adore!  They are growing so quickly, I can barely believe they are almost six months old.  I'm just treasuring the moments of playtime, listening to them talk in their cribs, waking up from naps with huge smiles on their faces and watching us as we move around the room.  They have become so alert and are both so smart!  They love watching each other, and smile at each other--it is so precious.

We're five months old!

I'm not sure why, but five months seems old to me.  It is almost half a year and it seems to be going by so fast.  I can't believe it was one year ago we found out we were pregnant...and when I look back at everything we have gone through this past year I am amazed, and feel so lucky to have them here with us.

They are growing, developing, interacting infants!  Every day they do something new.  This week, they have been reaching for things that they want and continue to drool everywhere and try to stuff their whole hands in their mouths.  They like to sit in their bumbo chairs on the kitchen counter and watch us cook or do dishes.  They are starting to stare at us when we eat...it won't be long before I start making their baby food, but for right now they still seem to be content with just milk.  They are talking more, especially Maddy.  They each have their own volume...Jack is very quiet and you have to listen closely to catch his little sweet noises.  Maddy on the other hand, belts it out!  They are smiling all of the time and giggle more every day.   I think their parents are very entertaining to them...and we will do just about anything to get them to laugh.  They have been sleeping well, which is so nice.  They sleep about 9 hours straight which is great for their parents.

Every day I think how lucky we are to have two beautiful, healthy, sweet babies.  I wouldn't trade this for anything :-)
